Grief is probably the hardest emotion to deal with under any circumstances. Thank goodness Balliol has such good friends to support him.

it really is such a nightmare. what it thought, the whole time, was how even with the necessary support this grief is still a solitary experience. Grief is very solitary and yet you wish for all the support you can get.

So true... I'm surrounded a little by death at the moment and it has occurred to me that even while grieving, it is hard it is to abandon the thought 'thankfully, it wasn't me this time.' I suppose this is just an affirmation of mortality, more than anything else.

no, i don't think it's an oxymoron. the fact that you are solitary, but wish you weren't. often i've felt that way.
